Welcome to Old Man Outdoor's outdoor adventures
My father was an outdoorsman. I was happy to follow him on his fishing, hunting, and outdoor adventures deep into the woods of Maine.
What is this site all about?
This website is designed mostly for my future grandchildren. I realize I won't be around forever, but the internet will be. This is my way of taking them on outdoor adventures , telling them stories, offering fishing and hunting advice, and for them to get to know our family's love of the outdoors, should I not be around to do it in person. You're also invited to join along.
I enjoyed following my old man deep into the woods of Maine with a fishing rod in my hand or a shotgun perched on my shoulder.
Life got in the way and obligations kept me from enjoying those places he showed me. I am vague in my recollections of his "secret spots." I plan to find those spots and share so they are not forgotten.
He has left us. My son didn't get a chance to learn from him how to find Black Rock Brook and how to present a fly to get that stubborn trout to bite. My daughter didn't get a chance to learn outdoor life lessons from someone who's wisdom eclipsed my own.
My work schedule and free time is allowing me to seek out those remote spots, remember those lessons, and share them through videos, photos, and words so my own children's children can fish the same waters and roam the same woods, should they choose to do so.
Maybe others may want to follow along as I take my dad's place and become "The Old Man Outdoors."
